What the role involves

• The Night Nurse Manager will take a lead role in managing any referrals out of hours, liaise with on call managers, medics and arrange admissions.
• Preparing a Night Report detailed below which should be shared with Ward Managers, Matron and Hospital Director.
• Visit each ward throughout the night to ensure observations are being carried out and all colleagues are alert.
• Young people on enhanced support and what level.
• Free 24 hour confidential Employee Assistance Programme Helpline & App to support with legal, health, wellbeing, relationship and consumer advice.

Skills and requirements

• Referral status update.To take a handover from all wards including updates on any incidents, staffing levels and actions required to be carried forward.
• Qualified Mental Health Nurse with 2 years plus post registration experience with active NMC registration.

Confirmed role details

• Take on the role of the Night Nurse Manager during the night shift, they will be expected to support other wards with their breaks.
• Make any required changes to staffing ensuring each ward has an equal allocation of permanent/agency staff, skill/gender mix.
• Each ward should report all incidents, seclusions, sickness, DNA’s to the Night Coordinator to be recorded on the Night report at the end of each shift.
• A Nest Personal Pension account.

Additional role context

• Kings Norton Hospital is a purpose-built adult mental health service with capacity for 32 people.
• To check each ward has the right mix of staff to care for the young people and that all 4 wards are staffed equally.
• Completion of 24 hour reports and CQC notifications alongside other documentation as advised by on call management.
