We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and dedicated Nursery Teacher to join a warm and inclusive early years setting within a primary school in Southgate, starting as soon as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity for an Early Years specialist who is passionate about providing high-quality care and education during the earliest stages of a child’s development.

The school places a strong emphasis on child-centred learning, wellbeing, and early development. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment where children feel supported, confident, and excited to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, offering ongoing training, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

As a Nursery Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality EYFS provision tailored to the individual needs of each child. You will create engaging learning opportunities that support children’s communication, social skills, early literacy, and numeracy. Working closely with teaching assistants and parents, you will ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Nursery and EYFS provision

  • Support children’s communication, language, social, and emotional development

  • Promote early literacy, numeracy, and physical development

  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all children, including SEND and EAL

  • Observe, assess, and accurately record children’s progress

  • Foster independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and EYFS colleagues

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers through regular communication

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent EYFS teaching qualification

  • Have experience teaching in Nursery or Early Years settings

  • Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic

  • Demonstrate strong classroom organisation and behaviour management

  • Have a secure understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and child wellbeing

The school is located in Southgate, with good transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, well-resourced, and inclusive working environment where wellbeing and development are prioritised.
