Occupational Therapist focuses on to provide a person centered approach and promote independence and empowerment to support people to attain their full potential.

What the role involves

• To provide a person centered approach and promote independence and empowerment to support people to attain their full potential.
• To support people to maximize their abilities to manage independently using a range of evidence based assessments, and interventions including.
• Helping people compensating for lost abilities, learning or re-learning the skills necessary for daily living, restoring body functions, providing advice and education to support w.
• To provide on- going education and training of Reablement staff.
• To ensure a high standard of practice and to support more junior staff to do likewise.

Candidate fit

• Adopt a problem-solving approach to intervention and use appropriate task analysis, teaching approaches, facilitating techniques, compensatory techniques, equipment and adaptations.

Additional role context

• To enable clients to achieve or regain maximum skills and wellbeing for independent living in the community.
• To focus on a restorative approach to maximizing an individual’s independence and enable them to link back into their community and participate in meaningful social roles.
• To supervise designated Reablement staff.
