Occupational Therapy Student / Graduate
Job description
You didn’t study Occupational Therapy to sit behind a desk.
You want to make a difference — to see progress, build relationships, and support people in real, meaningful ways.
That’s exactly what this role offers.
We’re working with schools across Tyne and Wear who are looking for Occupational Therapy students (final year) and graduates to join their teams in SEND support roles.
What your role could involve:
- Supporting children with additional needs in the classroom
- Helping pupils manage sensory overload and emotional regulation
- Encouraging independence through structured support
- Working closely with teachers and SENCOs
- Adapting activities to suit individual learning needs
This is hands-on, people-focused work where your knowledge comes to life.
Why this works so well for OT graduates:
- You already understand sensory needs and regulation
- You’re trained to look beyond behaviour
- You bring structure, calm, and practical strategies
- You focus on long-term outcomes, not quick fixes
What you’ll gain:
- Real-world experience working with SEND
- Confidence in applying your OT knowledge
- Insight into education and multidisciplinary working
- A strong CV for future OT roles or postgraduate study
