An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic physiotherapist to join the Oxford neuromuscular physiotherapy team.

The Oxford neuromuscular clinical service is a regional service, supporting surrounding counties and is one of the three nationally commissioned NHS Highly Specialised Services for Rare Mitochondrial Disease. These services are split between adults and paediatrics and both teams work closely and collaboratively to provide a seamless transition of care.

The broader Oxford neuromuscular service includes a research team who aim to lead innovation in new treatments and evaluate trials to benefit patients with neuromuscular disease. The close collaboration between the clinical and research teams brings opportunities for AHP research in both supporting and leading roles. With new and emerging therapies, this post offers a fantastic opportunity for a physiotherapist with an interest in neuromuscular, to develop their skills in this changing landscape of neuromuscular disorders and forge a neuromuscular career in this expanding field of physiotherapy.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced physiotherapist with the ability to work with a significant degree of professional autonomy. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of physiotherapy skill and expertise and be expected to use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist assessment and treatment of complex patients.

The post holder will be expected to cover established neuromuscular clinics, running on set days, alongside an experienced MDT. The role is primarily outpatient based, with cover across tertiary clinics and ad hoc respiratory outpatient input for the paediatric neuronuclear cohort. 

Successful applicants will have relevant postgraduate experience.

The post holder will be expected to partake in acute respiratory on-calls and weekend duties.
