Physio/Sports Therapist
Job description
About the Role: Physio/Sports Therapist
Activate Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated Sports Therapist to join our growing Activate Rugby Academy (ARA), part of our ACE programme for talented 16-18 year-old rugby players.
Working in partnership with Gloucester Rugby (Boys) and Ealing Trailfinders (Girls), the ARA provides a high-performance environment that combines academic study with elite rugby development. You will play a key role in helping young athletes realise their potential both on and off the pitch.
You will support the daily delivery and management of the girls rugby programme, working closely with the Head Coach and wider multidisciplinary team. Specifically, you will assist with clinics on training days and pitch side cover during training and on game days.
This is a permanent, part-time role working 15 hours per week (FTE 0.34) based at Harcourt Hill Campus, Oxford. Working days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday August-May to fit around the players’ rugby programme.
What do you need to be successful as a Physio/Sports Therapist at Activate Learning?
The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability with injury assessment and exercise-based rehabilitation. Experience pitch side and taping with rugby players will be advantageous. As you’ll be working with young athletes, awareness and commitment to safeguarding will be necessary.
You will be highly organised, adaptable, and capable of staying composed in a fast-paced performance environment, always striving to be ambitious and forward-thinking in your approach to player development. Building positive relationships with players, colleagues, and partners will be essential, as well as your abilities as a therapist to help get injured players back to full fitness.
Above all, your professionalism, communication skills, and the extent to which you care deeply about wellbeing, inclusion, and high standards, both on and off the pitch, will allow you to make a meaningful and lasting impact within the Activate Rugby Academy.
A degree in physiotherapy, along with active registration with professional bodies such as CSP, HCPC, BASRAT, PHICIS or SST, is preferred. While a pitch-side qualification is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Experience working with female athletes would be desirable, but is not required.
