Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

This Principal Mechanical Design Engineer role is focused on leading the design and delivery of mechanical solutions for commercial decarbonisation projects. It would suit someone who can bring strong professional approach to the role.

Where ownership sits

Produce detailed mechanical designs including schematics, calculations, plant selections and project specifications. Hands‑on experience with heat pump technologies (including >1MW systems)Understanding of refrigerants, heat pump optimisation and system design.

What the role carries

Leading the design and delivery of mechanical solutions for commercial decarbonisation projects. Carry out site surveys, assessments and feasibility studies across the UK. Develop and validate BMS control strategies from initial design through to on‑site optimisation.

What the role depends on

• Experience in data centre applications (HTG & CHW systems).
• Experience using IES, Hysopt or similar simulation software.
• Experience with solar thermal, district heating or large‑scale energy networks.
