Project Design Engineer
Job description
We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering business specialising in bespoke, client-led projects.
This role focuses on the design and delivery of engineered solutions from concept through to manufacture and installation. You will work closely with internal teams and clients to develop practical, high-quality designs that meet technical, safety, and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop bespoke engineering designs based on client specifications and project requirements
Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
Create GA drawings, manufacturing drawings, and supporting technical documentation
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), calculations, and technical specifications
Ensure designs meet relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards
Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and resolve technical queries
Collaborate with manufacturing, project management, and installation teams to support project delivery
Identify and resolve design challenges while maintaining project timelines
Skills & Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience)
Experience in bespoke or project-based design environments
Strong SolidWorks skills including assemblies and drawing production
Understanding of fabrication and design for manufacture (DFM)
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
Confident communication when working with clients and internal teams
Salary & Benefits
£40, - £45, depending on experience
