Your New Role

As a Project Engineering Manager, you’ll take ownership of the engineering delivery across UK rolling stock bids and projects. You’ll provide technical leadership, assurance and governance, acting as the key engineering interface between customers, project teams and internal stakeholders.

This is a genuinely hands‑on leadership role, where your engineering judgement, systems approach and people skills will be just as important as your technical expertise. If you enjoy leading complex engineering delivery, thrive on stakeholder interaction, and want to influence how major rolling stock projects are delivered, this could be the perfect next move for you.

If you’re a Senior Project Engineer ready to step into a broader leadership role, or an experienced Project Engineering Manager looking for your next challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Leading engineering governance activities, including design reviews and project phase transitions

  • Owning and managing technical risk, ensuring mitigations are clearly identified and delivered

  • Overseeing engineering budgets, schedules and resource planning alongside the Engineering Management Office.

  • Supporting bids and tenders with strong, customer‑focused technical input

  • Leading engineering delivery in line with systems engineering best practice

  • Chairing Engineering Change Control Boards and ensuring robust configuration management

  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with rail standards and regulations

  • Supporting projects through occasional UK and international travel

  • About You

  • Enjoys developing and supporting others

  • Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership (or equivalent experience)

  • What We Offer

We really value our people and offer a competitive reward and benefits package, including:
