PSV/HGV Mechanic

PSV/Mechanic focuses on diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and component replacement.

What the role involves

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and component replacement.
• Identify vehicle faults and determine the appropriate repair methods and required parts.
• Complete routine servicing and scheduled vehicle inspections.
• Use handheld diagnostic and data capture devices where applicable.
• Attend roadside vehicle breakdowns and recovery callouts when required.
• Carry out vehicle road tests to identify faults and verify completed repairs.

Skills and requirements

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance.
• Experience working on PSV or HGV vehicles is preferred.
• However, applications from Light Vehicle Technicians are welcomed.
• PCV licence is desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided.

Confirmed role details

• £21.12 per hour basic rate.
• Enhanced pay for weekend and unsociable hours.
• £2,000 joining bonus (£1,000 on joining and £1,000 upon successful completion of probation).
• Company pension scheme.
