An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic nurses to join the Adult Safeguarding Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are currently expanding the team and have a vacancy for a Band 7 Safeguarding Adults Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a full‑time position (Monday–Sunday) based across all five Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites.

The team at ICHT supports staff to safeguard patients, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure that the workforce is equipped—through education, support and advice—to recognise and respond appropriately and proportionately to abuse and neglect.

Reporting directly to the Named Nurses for Safeguarding Adults, the post holder will promote the safeguarding agenda Trust‑wide to ensure compliance with the Care Act (2014) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005), providing evidence through audit and review.

Main duties of the job

  • Working as part of the safeguarding team, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining standards in relation to safeguarding, as set out in Trust policies and procedures. They will act as a resource to staff when issues relating to safeguarding or mental capacity arise.
  • The post holder will oversee the domestic abuse email inbox, co‑ordinate research for the MARAC (Multi‑Agency Risk Assessment Conference) meetings attended by the Trust, maintain a spreadsheet, and work closely with the wider safeguarding team, which covers all safeguarding specialities, including the Learning Disability and Autism team.
  • The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will be responsible for reviewing safeguarding referrals and providing in‑reach support and leadership in complex cases. They will liaise with partner agencies to ensure information is shared appropriately where required.
  • The CNS will act as a resource for clinical staff regarding Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), sharing good practice and identifying areas requiring increased training and support.
  • The post holder will work alongside the Named Nurses to ensure that the patient voice is captured and that learning from patient experience, and internal or external reviews, is disseminated and embedded into practice.

  • RN (Adult) or RN (chlld) with relevant safeguarding adult experience
  • RMN with relevant safeguarding adult experience
  • Educated to a degree level in relevant subject area or evidence of equivalent
  • Desirable criteria

  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of working within an acute hospital setting with vulnerable adults
  • Experience with working with domestic abuse cases
  • Evidence of experience in safeguarding practice
  • Sound experience in managing complaints and quality assurance
  • Experience of multiagency working in the guise of MCA and Best Interests
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of providing supervision to staff
  • Experience of working with Deprivation of Liberty Standards
  • Experience of working with the TVNS

    Essential criteria

  • Evidence of undertaking senior role working with vulnerable adults and those with domestic abuse concerns
  • Detailed and thorough knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and guidelines.
