Job description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a thriving mainstream secondary school in Hertfordshire this January. The school is well-established, consistently improving, and highly respected within the local community for its strong academic outcomes, high behavioural standards, and supportive ethos.

The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking and collaborative Science Department that prides itself on innovative teaching, rigorous curriculum design, and excellent student support. You will be responsible for delivering KS3 and KS4 Science, with the option to teach a specialism at KS5 depending on experience. The department benefits from purpose-built laboratories, modern equipment, digital learning tools, and an extremely supportive technician team.

The school is committed to maintaining high aspirations for all pupils, with a clear emphasis on stretch and challenge. Science is a popular subject at GCSE, with strong uptake at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The successful applicant will have the freedom to contribute to curriculum development, enrichment initiatives such as STEM clubs, science fairs, competitions, and educational trips.

The wider school environment is calm, respectful, and built around strong routines. Staff wellbeing is taken seriously, with a structured mentoring programme, reduced administrative burden, and regular CPD. Teachers who are passionate about pedagogy, behaviour-for-learning, and evidence-based practice will thrive here.

The school is seeking a Science Teacher who:
• Holds QTS or equivalent
• Can teach General Science across KS3/KS4
• Can offer a specialism (Biology/Chemistry/Physics) ideally to KS5
• Upholds high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and professional conduct
• Has a genuine commitment to student progress and departmental collaboration

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a motivated, hardworking, and friendly team at a school that genuinely supports its staff and invests in their long-term development.
