What the role involves

  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
  • Supporting pupils with complex behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties in accessing learning.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement approaches.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and progress.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and pastoral teams.

Skills and requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
