SEMH Teacher / Tutor – Stride 360

If you’re the kind of person who stays calm when everyone else is losing it, notices the small wins, and genuinely wants young people to feel understood, then this could be the role for you.

At Stride 360, we work with young people who have often had a difficult start in education. They may present with big emotions, challenging behaviour, and barriers to learning but they also have huge potential. What they need is consistency, patience, and adults who truly get them.

We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed. We are looking for SEMH Teachers and Tutors who share this belief and are committed to helping students rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning in a way that feels safe, meaningful, and achievable.

We work closely with schools and the Local Authority across Swindon and the surrounding areas, delivering personalised, trauma-informed support. This is an opportunity to take control of your teaching practice working flexibly, creatively, and in a way that genuinely makes a difference.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group sessions (ages 5–18)
  • Teaching English and/or Maths up to GCSE level
  • Supporting young people to manage emotions, behaviour, and daily routines
  • Using positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
  • Building strong, professional relationships based on trust and consistency
  • Planning engaging, personalised learning that meets each student where they are
  • Celebrating progress both small steps and big milestones
  • Working as part of a supportive, reflective team
  • At the heart of this role is knowing the child understanding their needs, building trust, and helping them find a pathway forward.

    What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with SEMH, SEND, behaviour support, PRUs, youth work, or care settings (desirable)
  • Ability or willingness to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level
  • A calm, grounded, and patient approach
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a nurturing but boundaried style
  • Emotional awareness and resilience
  • A non-judgemental mindset and genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
  • A strong safeguarding knowledge and practice
  • Our staff inspire students by making learning real, relevant, and engaging whether a young person is working on the basics or developing a particular strength or passion.

    Why Stride 360?

  • A flexible and adaptable working model
  • Opportunities to work creatively and outside of traditional classroom structures
  • A strong, supportive team who genuinely care
  • A focus on relationships first, education second
  • The chance to have a real, lasting impact on young people’s lives
  • Our young people need very special adults who understand that progress takes time, relationships come first, and consistency is key. In return, you’ll be part of a team that values honesty, flexibility, and doing what is right for each individual child.
