SEMH Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant focuses on provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (pmld).

What the role involves

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
• Assisting in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals.
• Supporting students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety.
• Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils.
• As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities.

Skills and requirements

• Provide essential support to students with PMLD, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment through the Education and Training setting.
• Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
• A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable.

• Day rate: £88 - £95.
