SEMH Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant focuses on provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (pmld).
What the role involves
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
- Assisting in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals.
- Supporting students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils.
- As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities.
Skills and requirements
- Provide essential support to students with PMLD, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment through the Education and Training setting.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable.
