Teaching Assistant focuses on provide 2:1 and small group support for pupils with semh needs.
What the role involves
- Provide 2:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Supporting pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions using positive behaviour strategies.
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning and intervention activities aligned with EHCPs and behaviour plans.
- Help create a safe, calm, and structured environment that promotes engagement and emotional regulation.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
Skills and requirements
- Experience working with SEMH, behaviour needs, or vulnerable children is highly desirable (school-based or alternative settings).
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
