What the role involves
- Play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions.
- Develop resilience, and access learning within a safe and structured environment.
- Provide calm, consistent, and patient support for children with SEMH needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with the class teacher and pastoral team to adapt learning.
Skills and requirements
- Recent experience (within the last 2 years) supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
- Resilient, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Confident supporting 1:1 and small group interventions.
- A genuine passion for helping children succeed and thrive.
Confirmed role details
- SEMH Teaching Assistant – Leeds (Full-Time).
- Monday–Friday | 08:30–15:30.
- Initially week-by-week, with the potential to move into a long-term role.
