What the role involves

• Play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions.
• Develop resilience, and access learning within a safe and structured environment.
• Provide calm, consistent, and patient support for children with SEMH needs.
• Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional wellbeing.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Work closely with the class teacher and pastoral team to adapt learning.

Skills and requirements

• Recent experience (within the last 2 years) supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
• Resilient, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Confident supporting 1:1 and small group interventions.
• A genuine passion for helping children succeed and thrive.

Confirmed role details

• SEMH Teaching Assistant – Leeds (Full-Time).
• Monday–Friday | 08:30–15:30.
• Initially week-by-week, with the potential to move into a long-term role.
