Teaching Assistant focuses on supporting students with semh needs and associated behavioural challenges in and out of the classroom.

What the role involves

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs and associated behavioural challenges in and out of the classroom.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help students regulate emotions and stay engaged in learning.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and effectively.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Help create a calm, structured, and safe learning environment.

Skills and requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • Ability to use initiative and remain consistent in approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and improving outcomes.
