SEN 1.1 Teaching Assistant focuses on · provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex behavioural needs, both in and out of the classroom.

What the role involves

• · Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex behavioural needs, both in and out of the classroom.
• · Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
• · Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil to promote a sense of safety and stability.
• · Support the pupil during transitions, playtimes, and less structured parts of the day.
• · Use de-escalation techniques and follow agreed behaviour support plans.
• · Assist in adapting learning materials to meet the pupils individual needs.

Skills and requirements

• Relevant teaching, classroom, childcare, QTS, SEN, safeguarding, or early-years experience may be required.

Candidate fit

• · Experience working with children with complex behavioural needs ( SEMH, ASD, or trauma-related behaviours).
• · Strong behaviour management skills and resilience under pressure.
• · The ability to remain patient and solution-focused in challenging situations.

Additional role context

• We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with complex behavioural needs.
• Develop positive social and emotional skills.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to provide consistent, tailored support that enables the pupil to access learning.
