SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Hatfield, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them succeed both academically and socially.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Senior leadership is approachable and ensures staff receive training, guidance, and opportunities for professional development.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and other support staff to provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment, enabling pupils to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN
Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
Assist with implementing individual education plans and strategies
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils’ needs
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and other staff
Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to reports
Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and school activities
Assist with personal care where required
Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
