• The post holder will take delegated responsibility for day-to-day.
• Operational matters of the coagulation section of the department, and deputise for the Chief Biomedical Scientist on technical matters in their absence.

Skills and requirements

• Applicants are required for the post of Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology laboratory at Hull as part of the Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS).
• Be a qualified BMS, with MSc, or equivalent, and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the coagulation section of the Blood Sciences Laboratory.
• Registered as a Biomedical Scientist on the HCPC register.

Confirmed role details

• All Biomedical Scientists are expected to participate fully in the local shift pattern once assessed as competent.
• Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants.
• 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service).

• The Haematology laboratory has a wide test repertoire including routine haematology, blood transfusion, coagulation, special haemostasis, HbA1c and haemoglobinopathy testing.
• The laboratory is one of the busiest haematology laboratories in the region processing in excess of 900,000 requests pa across two hospital sites.
