Senior Business Analyst

As a Senior Business Analyst in Data Science, the work centres on facilitate structured discovery workshops with stakeholders to surface pain points, map processes and pinpoint where AI can deliver meaningful improvements. Role overview

Sitting within DTI, the Advanced Analytics & Data Science Unit team develops the FCA's organisation-wide capability to drive an analytics-led regulatory approach. We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective.

Main responsibilities

Facilitate structured discovery workshops with stakeholders to surface pain points, map processes and pinpoint where AI can deliver meaningful improvements. Managing and prioritise a pipeline of AI initiatives, partnering with data scientists and leadership to focus effort on the highest‑impact projects. Translate business challenges into clear functional and non‑functional requirements, working collaboratively with technical teams to design AI‑enabled solutions.

Requirements

• Experience in a senior business analyst role or a comparable position such as Consultant, Solution/Service Designer or Product Owner.
• Experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle, using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
• Interest or familiarity with artificial intelligence, particularly in areas such as large language models, agentic AI, or prompt engineering.

Job details

• National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £53,800 to £68,000 and London from £59,200 to £73,000 per annum (salary offered will be based on skills and experience).
