This Senior CAD Engineer opportunity in Engineering, Civil is built around generate detailed insulator set drawings, including string configurations, hardware assemblies, phase spacing, and structure interface details for 132kV–400kV OHL systems. It would suit someone who can bring strong professional approach to the role.
Where ownership sits
Your primary focus will be to provide project technical support for the delivery of our major transmission projects, encompassing overhead transmission lines up to 400kV - includin. Here’s what we’re looking for: HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, CAD/Design Technology, or related field.
What the role carries
Generate detailed insulator set drawings, including string configurations, hardware assemblies, phase spacing, and structure interface details for 132kV–400kV OHL systems. Ensure full adherence to NG/ET/SR_135 – Drawings Management Process for any work affecting National Grid transmission assets, including design revisions and approvals through ECM/I. Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for overhead line structures, route layouts, and associated components.

What the role depends on
- Strong experience with PLS‑CADD including plan/profile generation and 3D clearance analysis. (Optional).
- Experience producing drawings for 132kV, 275kV, and/or 400kV OHL projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with Georeferenced point clouds, LiDAR, GIS data, and 3D terrain models.
