Senior Design Engineer
Senior Design Engineer focuses on leading the end-to-end mechanical design of battery modules and packs, from concept through to prototype and production release.
What the role involves
- Leading the end-to-end mechanical design of battery modules and packs, from concept through to prototype and production release.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and bespoke test equipment to support assembly, characterisation, and validation activities.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, ensuring GD&T compliance and full design intent capture for manufacture and assembly.
- Driving design feasibility studies, perform hand calculations, and work with simulation tools to validate structural and thermal performance.
- Maintain technical documentation including design specifications, BOMs, assembly instructions.
- Report into the Head of Mechanical, working collaboratively across our multidisciplinary team to ensure designs are delivered on time and to specification.
Skills and requirements
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years or more of industry experience within similar roles.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, with a strong CAD portfolio (Preferably CATIA).
- Demonstrable experience designing for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA), with hands-on involvement through to prototype build.
