What the role involves

• Senior Design Engineer focuses on we are recruiting a senior design engineer to lead the delivery of highway improvement, maintenance, and traffic engineering schemes.
• ·Lead and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver highway projects on time, to cost, and to quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality and safety processes.
• ·Conduct technical design checks.
• ·Manage staff performance, training, and development, including mentoring junior engineers.
• Maintaining strong client relationships, collaborating to define project objectives and deliverables.

Skills and requirements

• ·Chartered Engineer (CEng) or highly experienced engineer working towards CEng (10+ years in highways design).
• ·Strong highways design and construction knowledge, including review of design outputs.
• ·Experience with NEC contracts and Local Highway Authority standards.
• ·Knowledge of highway design guidance: DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, and other relevant codes of practice.

Candidate fit

• Technical judgement, safe working habits, careful diagnostics, and practical problem-solving.

Additional role context

• ·Strong commercial awareness and H&S management in design and construction.
• ·Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• This is a key role for a highly experienced engineer with responsibility for technical design, team leadership, and project delivery across multiple schemes.
