Senior Engineer

Senior Engineer focuses on leading the technical design and checking of streets projects (concept, preliminary, detailed design, and delivery support).

What the role involves

• Leading the technical design and checking of streets projects (concept, preliminary, detailed design, and delivery support).
• Review designs, drawings, schedules, and specifications (AutoCAD/Civil 3D), including horizontal/vertical alignment, traffic signs/lining, drainage interfaces, kerbing, surfacing,.
• Develop traffic engineering solutions (signal control, bus priority, junction optimisation, safety mitigation, parking/loading strategies, TRO support).
• Coordinating road safety considerations across the project lifecycle, including RSA inputs (informed by GG 119) and human factors.
• Design reports, stage reports, cost estimates, BoQs, risk registers and H&S/CDM deliverables.
• Supporting procurement and delivery (NEC3/NEC4 scoping, works information, tender queries, contractor liaison.

Skills and requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Proficient in AutoCAD (and competent in Civil 3D or willing to upskill quickly).
• Working knowledge of DMRB, Cycling by Design (Scotland), TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, CDM 2015, NEC contracts, and GG 119 principles.
• Experience with signal design/assessment and junction modelling using at least one of: LinSig, TRANSYT, SIDRA, Junctions 9/10, VISSIM or Aimsun (overview level acceptable if depth.
