Job description

Senior Gardner/Grounds person x2

Full time - 36 hours

Salary - £30,288 - £32,070

We are looking for a committed and skilled Grounds person to join our Urban Greenspaces team. You will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality horticultural and grounds maintenance services across our parks, estates, and open spaces—helping us to keep Enfield’s outdoor environments clean, safe, attractive, and welcoming for all residents.

As part of a hardworking and dedicated team, you will carry out a broad range of horticultural, grounds maintenance, and environmental management tasks in line with Service Level Agreements and council standards. You’ll communicate professionally with residents and colleagues, respond positively to enquiries, and support safe and effective service delivery across the borough.

Enfield Council is committed to creating a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive borough. Our Environment and Communities department plays a key role in enhancing public spaces and delivering high-quality services to residents. We value collaboration, innovation, and respect, and we are proud to support a diverse and multicultural community. As part of our commitment to safeguarding, we ensure robust recruitment practices and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in delivering excellent service and thrives in a team environment. Essential requirements include:

  • Deliver a wide range of grounds maintenance and horticultural duties
  • Engage positively with the public, providing advice and assistance as needed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles (up to tonnes)
  • Support the upkeep of our green spaces in parks, housing estates and highways
  • Carry out basic documentation such as pre‑start checks and work programme updates.
  • Report defects, complaints, accidents, and near‑misses promptly.
  • Support colleagues and assist with on‑the‑job training, guiding more junior staff when required.
  • In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous annual leave, pension scheme, and access to training and development programmes, we offer:

  • A supportive team culture that values collaboration and personal growth
  • Opportunities to contribute to meaningful environmental projects across the borough
  • Access to Council wellbeing initiatives and staff networks
  • A chance to make a visible impact in your local community
  • Valid UK Drivers License required
