Senior Technical Manager focuses on take ownership of the mechanical design review process, rigorously interrogating design proposals for feasibility, compliance, and efficiency.

What the role involves

  • Take ownership of the mechanical design review process, rigorously interrogating design proposals for feasibility, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Independently check, verify, and validate mechanical calculations (e.g., HVAC load assessments, fluid dynamics, pipework sizing) submitted by external parties.
  • Managing, guide, and challenge external MEP design consultants to ensure outputs meet the highest technical standards and project timelines.
  • Driving the design delivery process, ensuring seamless integration of mechanical systems with wider architectural and structural disciplines.
  • Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting expertise to the project management and site delivery teams.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety.

Skills and requirements

  • A strong, demonstrable technical background in Mechanical Engineering, preferably supported by a relevant degree or equivalent extensive industry experience.
  • Proven track record working in a Technical Management or Design Delivery Management capacity within the M&E.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the hands-on ability to review designs and critically assess technical calculations.
  • Extensive experience in managing and coordinating external design consultants on large-scale projects.
