What the role involves

• Handle specialist instrumentation and equipment for ophthalmic, plastics, pain management and minor general surgery procedures, following manufacturers’ guidance and clinical proto.
• Provide skilled scrub support to consultants, anticipating needs and maintaining high standards of aseptic practice throughout day case procedures.
• Supporting the Theatre Manager with team briefings, scheduling, stock control and ensuring safe patient flow through the theatre suite.
• Overseeing the safe admission and discharge of patients, ensuring documentation, consent, observations and discharge criteria are completed accurately.
• Coordinating patient movement through the clinic, working closely with reception, pre‑assessment, theatre and recovery teams to maintain efficient flow.
• Supervise junior theatre practitioners and healthcare assistants, providing clinical guidance and oversight during shifts.

Skills and requirements

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Previous experience in a senior or team‑lead role within theatres or day surgery.

Confirmed role details

• Up to £44,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).
