Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Arup is the creative force at the heart of many of the world’s most prominent projects in the built and natural environment. Working in more than 140 countries, the firm’s designers, engineers, architects, planners, consultants, and technical specialists work with our clients on innovative projects of the highest quality and impact. As a wholly independent organisation, we are owned in trust for the benefit of our employees and their dependants: with no shareholders or external investors we determine our own business priorities and direction.

The Opportunity

In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent.

This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to hire a Social Media Marketing Specialist within our UK, India, Middle East and Africa (including Europe) MCBD function. The role sits in our Digital Marketing team, which exists to drive digital excellence across social, content marketing, web marketing, email marketing and communications by providing strategic advice, best practice, research, training, testing and learning, and measurement for data-based decision making.

Key responsibilities:
This role will support the planning, creation, publishing, and performance tracking of social media content and campaigns that enhance Arup’s brand visibility, engage target audiences, and support business development priorities.

  • Create and schedule engaging content across Arup’s social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), including asset creation (carousels, collages and video).
  • Update the UKIMEA social content calendar, while also adding content to the global social media calendar.
  • Stay informed on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to suggest creative content and strategy.
  • Support reporting on social performance using analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, native platform insights).
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to comments, and escalate reputational risks as needed.
  • Assist with employee advocacy and executive visibility initiatives on social media through writing of social content.
  • Support training and guidance for internal teams on social media usage and tone of voice.
  • Support the execution of paid and organic social media campaigns, including content creation, building, and reporting.
  • At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

This position is an excellent opportunity for anyone eager to advance their careers in digital marketing, particularly those looking to further develop their expertise in social marketing. It offers the chance to build on existing creative and analytical abilities, with prior experience in social marketing highly valued.

  • Experience in a social media or digital marketing role, ideally in a professional services or B2B environment.
  • An interest in developing knowledge of social media best practice based on data.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills, with attention to tone, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • Creative mindset with a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools.
  • An understanding of LinkedIn and other key platforms and proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar).
