Sous Chef focuses on supporting the head chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

What the role involves

  • Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Leading and motivate the kitchen, promoting consistency, quality and teamwork.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standard.
  • Maintaining strong control over food quality, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
  • Assisting with menu development, seasonal changes and special event menus.
  • Managing stock control, ordering and wastage to maintain GP targets.

Skills and requirements

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a high-quality restaurant or hotel environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire.
  • Excellent knowledge of fresh, seasonal ingredients and modern cooking techniques.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a busy service environment.
