Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant focuses on assist teachers in adapting lessons, and help pupils gain independence, confidence, and social skills.

What the role involves

• Assist teachers in adapting lessons, and help pupils gain independence, confidence, and social skills.
• Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN.
• Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties.
• Adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting self-regulation.
• Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress to teachers and SENCOs.

Skills and requirements

• Relevant teaching, classroom, childcare, QTS, SEN, safeguarding, or early-years experience may be required.
