As a Specialist Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, the work centres on leading on the development and delivery of Spinal screening and complex back pain management training for the internal Advanced Practice team. It would suit someone who can bring leading on clinical investigations regarding patient complaints and incidents, with a specific focus on missed spinal pathology or delayed referrals for CES to the role.

Who the work supports

Utilise structured frameworks to identify learning from near-miss events and implement service-wide changes. Clinical hours are from 8am-8pm so the role may entail late evening work.

How support shows up

Leading on the development and delivery of Spinal screening and complex back pain management training for the internal Advanced Practice team. Leading the creation of local protocols and standards specifically for the identification of spinal "red flags".

What needs to be in place

  • BSc/Grad Dip in Physiotherapy with HCPC registration.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a Specialist Spinal service or neurosurgical/orthopaedic spinal clinic.
  • Minimum 3 years in an autonomous MSK role as an APP or FCP.
