Our client is a leading packaging distributor and supplier specialising in industrial and e-commerce transit packaging solutions. The business has evolved into a fully integrated packaging provider serving customers across the UK and Europe. It offers a comprehensive range of products including corrugated boxes, protective packaging, adhesive tapes, pallet wrap, labels, and packaging automation solutions, with a strong emphasis on sustainability through the use of recycled and recyclable materials.
They are currently looking for a Supply Chain Manager to be a bridge between the companies goals and daily Operators, ensuring that the business remains both competitive and profitable whilst de-risking the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, management and accountability (LMA) for the Commercial Team, ensuring clear objectives, strong performance, and ongoing developmentUphold and actively promote company values, leading by example in all interactionsEffectively manage team resources to ensure daily workloads are delivered efficiently and to a high standardSet, monitor, and deliver quarterly objectives and performance measures, while achieving all assigned targets and key deliverablesDevelop, manage, and maintain accountability for the team budget, ensuring alignment with wider business goalsCoordinate cross-functional teams including Procurement, Sales, NPD, Marketing, and Costing to deliver competitive and innovative bids that secure new businessMonitor industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to inform long-term commercial strategyLead and develop the commercial function across Procurement, Inventory, Costing & Technical, and NPD, working closely with the Senior Leadership teamDefine and implement commercial strategies that optimise cost, quality, and service performance across the supply chainAct as the commercial and supply chain lead in cross-functional discussions, influencing senior stakeholders on procurement, pricing, and investment decisionsEnsure gross margins meet or exceed budgeted targets through accurate costing, competitive procurement, and disciplined pricing governanceDeliver annual cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, value engineering, and alternative sourcingEstablish and maintain a high-performing supplier base, implementing long-term agreements to secure supply, drive innovation, and mitigate price volatilityMonitor and improve supplier performance across delivery, quality, and sustainability metricsOversee supplier strategy, approving contracts and major purchasing decisions within delegated authorityReview and challenge procurement performance, driving continuous improvement and cost efficienciesPartner with the Sales Manager to ensure cost models, pricing methodologies, and margin structures are accurate, consistent, and strategically alignedEnsure back-to-back commercial alignment between customer and supplier contracts to minimise riskCollaborate on high-value quotations, ensuring commercial robustness prior to submissionSupport Finance and Sales with pricing analysis, profitability reviews, and long-term cost forecastingDrive cross-functional collaboration to improve cost transparency, product performance, and operational efficiencyLead the commercial governance of all NPD projects, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic objectivesOversee the development of costings, sourcing strategies, and business cases for new productsPartner with NPD, design, and technical teams to ensure products are commercially viable, scalable, and market-readyProvide timely costings, sourcing decisions, and commercial approvals to support efficient project deliveryManage material cost forecasting, market risk assessments, and pricing strategies in line with financial targetsOversee and implement risk mitigation strategies relating to supply chain disruption, material volatility, and margin erosionLead and drive a culture of continuous improvement across the team and wider businessManage issues and crises effectively, ensuring resolution, followed by root cause analysis and preventative actionsAdhere to company policies and processes, while proactively improving them where they hinder business performanceWork closely with the Senior Leadership team to ensure budget targets are achieved and overall business performance is deliveredUndertake any additional reasonable duties as required to support business needs
