What the role involves

• Spreading hot bitumen, tar, or asphalt.
• Compacting the surface using a roller.
• Spreading aggregate over road surfaces using a shovel.
• Remove damaged paving slabs and kerb stones.
• Laying bedding of sand, concrete, or mortar on a prepared foundation.
• Laying new slabs or stones.

Skills and requirements

• Driving Licence (preferred).
• Previous experience in highway maintenance or civil engineering works.
• Flexible and willing to participate in a standby rota for emergency and winter maintenance.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practices.

Confirmed role details

• Out work on a rota basis.
• Maintaining good communication with supervisors, team members, and members of the public.
• 40 hours per week with time and a half after 40 hours, and Saturdays and double time on a Sunday.

Additional role context

• This will be a practical, hands-on role that includes a range of tasks such as reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and responding to emergency callouts.
