A well-regarded secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Teacher of History to join its thriving Humanities department. About the Role

  • As Teacher of History, you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and timetable. You will deliver well-structured lessons that develop:

  • Secure historical knowledge across a range of periods and themes

  • Disciplinary thinking: causation, significance, change and continuity

  • Source evaluation and interpretation through structured practice

  • Confident extended writing through modelling and purposeful feedback

  • GCSE success through deliberate practice and clear exam technique

You will work closely with colleagues to plan effectively, share resources and ensure pupils experience a well-sequenced curriculum that supports long-term understanding.

The Humanities Department

The Humanities team is supportive and collaborative, with shared planning and consistent approaches to assessment. History is valued within the school, and the department encourages enquiry-based learning, discussion and debate, while maintaining high expectations for written work and presentation.

Key Information

  • Location: Birmingham

  • Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement)

  • Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed)

Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
