Teaching Assistant focuses on provide classroom support to students, including those with send needs such as asd, adhd, and communication difficulties, under the direction of teaching staff.
What the role involves
- Provide classroom support to students, including those with SEND needs such as ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties, under the direction of teaching staff.
- Supporting individual students or small groups to enhance learning, engagement, and progress across a range of subjects.
- Assisting in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to meet diverse student needs.
- Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, and the wider pastoral team to help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence in students through consistent support and encouragement.
- Help create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional wellbeing.
Skills and requirements
- Experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally including those with SEN.
- A good understanding of strategies for differentiation, behaviour management, and supporting diverse learners.
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
