About the role
In this role you will work with another Workplace Services Maintenance Officer to help in the delivery of the Workplace Service function, providing a safe and compliant premises and facilities. You will work the team on planning and completion of maintenance and compliance activities within the building, grounds and gardens.
In this varied role, no two days will be the same. You’ll be working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring efficient delivery of a customer focused and cost-effective service, whether you are agreeing terms with a new supplier, resolving an issue with IOSH’s facilities or responding to an emergency situation.
You will work in completing statutory and regulatory compliance checks, helping to identify and action non-compliances and maintaining accurate records. This role you will help monitor the helpdesk, assessing new reports and prioritising response activities including carrying out repairs, tasks and maintenance on your own initiative.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you’ll have a good working knowledge of building health and safety requirements, as well as knowledge of practical maintenance of a listed building. You will be someone who is confident in managing their own time with the ability to prioritise tasks whilst carrying out work with a strong attention to detail.
You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to easily build rapport whether it be with colleagues across the business or when liaising with suppliers and organising contractors.
You will have experience of undertaking basic electrical repairs and basic plumbing repairs so will be proactive in identifying and resolving operational issues quickly and effectively.
Essential criteria
· Understanding of building compliance
· Awareness on the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
· Ability to perform physical work including, lifting, moving and carrying.
· Technical awareness for fault finding
· Ability to undertake accurate recording of data for compliance, including record keeping and understanding impact and outcomes that need to be managed.
· Basic carpentry and DIY skills
· Legionella Management CPD Course Qualification or willingness to complete
· Previous experience using a CAFM system.
