What the role involves
- Leading the design and assessment of temporary works, including falsework, formwork, access platforms, propping, hoardings, excavation support, and crane bases.
- Overseeing a team producing detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with current codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Liaise with site teams, project engineers, and external stakeholders to develop safe, practical, and economical solutions.
- Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor the implementation of temporary works.
- Provide technical support during construction.
- Managing the approval process for temporary works, including preparation and presentation of design briefs.
Skills and requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
- Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and temporary works procedures.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software.
